Tigers open region play this week

The Tallassee football team needs not to be reminded of the finish to the Wetumpka game. The best way to put a walk-off loss behind you is to play again.

The Tigers have been sitting on go since the Aug. 27 defeat. Last Friday was an off date.

This week, Tallassee gets into region play at Sylacauga and tries to erase the bitterness of an 18-14 defeat.

Sylacauga played its first region game last week, losing to Central of Clay County 23-7 in Lineville. The Aggies are 1-2 overall. Their win was a forfeit over Lincoln.

Former Alabama player and Sylacauga coach Andrew Zow is now at Clemson

Tallassee senior running back Jalyn Daniels has rushed for 428 yards in two games. He is averaging 6.9 yards per carry.

Sylacauga leads the all-time series 3-1 and beat Tallassee 41-21 last year at J. E. "Hot" O'Brien Stadium. Andrew Zow, who coached the program for one season in 2020, is now an assistant at Clemson. Former Beauregard coach Rob Carter is now head coach.

Carter is 3-2 head-to-head in matchups vs. Tallassee head coach Mike Battles. Battles' Tigers team won last year against the Carter-coached Beauregard squad 57-20.
