Baseball team sweeps Saturday DH

Tallassee swept a twin bill at Dadeville on Saturday. The Tigers beat Alabama Christian 4-3 and host Dadeville 14-4 in five innings.

In the opener vs. the Eagles, Tallassee built a 4-0 lead after two innings. Ethan Stevenson's triple drove in three in the second. Jalyn Daniels, Jacob Ingram and Jake Manning also had hits for Tallassee.

Jacob Dantro (2-1) picked up the victory with 5 2/3 innings of work and no earned runs allowed. Ingram and Hunter Timmerman combined in relief to close the game.

In the win over Dadeville, Timmerman (1-3) pitched 4 2/3 to get the W. The Tigers had 12 hits led by Caden Griffith and Mason Stewart with three each. Manning added two hits.

Tallassee opened the week with an 11-4 win over LAMP on Monday. The Tigers dropped games at Wetumpka 12-0 on Tuesday and at home vs. Elmore County 12-8 on Thursday.

In the three-hour matchup against the Panthers at Southside Field, gunshots from 1st Avenue could be heard around the ballpark. Three were injured in the shooting in the Jordanville Community that was captured during the WTLS radio broadcast and Facebook Live feed.

The Tigers return to the diamond on Thursday, March 18 at Montgomery Academy at 4:30 p.m. It will be the third meeting between the two this season.
