Baseball team hits the road

Tallassee concluded its opening week homestand with another win at Southside Field. On Monday, the Tigers beat LAMP 12-2 in six innings, the team's third ten-run rule win in four games.

Will Peters, making his first start of the season, picked up the win with four innings pitched. Peters struck out four, walked two and allowed just one run on two hits. Cole Bonner pitched two innings, striking out two, walking two and allowing one run.

Peters had three hits, along with Dee Williams and Reid Whitaker. Whitaker hit the team's first homer of the season with a two-run shot over left-center in the third. He was 3-for-3 with six RBIs.

The Tigers traveled on Friday facing Central of Clay County for the second time this year winning again 3-0. Jake Burton picked up the win in his first start. Parker Neighbors earned the save.

Peters was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Coleman Teel's pinch-hit single RBI broke a scorelss tie in the fifth.

On Saturday, Tallassee played a doubleheader at Saraland. THS lost the first game 1-0 for their first defeat of the season. Peters (1-1) took the loss in 5 2/3 innings of work. He struck out four and allowed eight hits. He also was 2-for-3 at the plate.

In the second game, Tallassee bounce back with a 4-0 victory over Robertsdale. Dee Williams (2-0) went 5 2/3 to earn the win. He struck out eight and allowed four hits. Casey Baynes was 2-for-2 at the dish.

The Tigers went to Roanoke to face Handley on Monday and lost 5-1. It was the first game of the season allowing more than two runs.

Auburn signee Rehtt Fetner picked up the win striking out seven and allowing just five hits. Neighbors (1-1) took the loss giving up three unearned runs on four hits. Williams went 2-for-3. Whitaker, Blake Dean and Zak Haynes had one hit a piece.

Tallassee (6-2) will play at Russell County in Seale on Friday, March 10 at 6:30 CST.
