Ansley named co-defensive coordinator

Staff Report

Tallassee native and THS graduate Derrick Ansley has been promoted by Kentucky head football coach Bob Stoops to co-defensive coordinator. Ansley will share the D.C duties with D.J. Eliot.

In a report from 24/7 Sports, Stoops stated that Ansley was "heavily pursued" and that the Wildcats "won the battle to keep him."

Ansley's name surfaced with coaching changes in the SEC including Alabama where he served as a graduate assistant from 2010-11.

2015 was Ansley's third year in Lexington. After working with cornerbacks initially, he became the secondary coach this past season.

In addition to work at SEC schools UK and Alabama, Ansley also coached for one year at Tennessee. In addition, he was an assistant with Mike Turk at Huntingdon College in Montgomery. He played collegiately at Troy University, graduating in 2005.

Ansley and his wife Alaea have one daughter, Selena.
