All-star teams ready for action

The first tournament weekend is around the corner for Tallassee's all-star baseball and softball teams.

Tallassee's 11/12 Dixie Youth Baseball O-Zone team will host a sub-district tournament beginning on Thursday, June 6. Tallassee will play all five days of the tourney that concludes on Tuesday, June 11.

Games will be played at 6 and 7:30 each night with two sessions on Saturday at 9 and 10:30 a.m. and 12 and 1:30 p.m.

"We are looking forward to hosting one of the O-Zone sub-districts this year and there should be some quality baseball being played for people wanting to come out and watch," Tallassee DYB commissioner Abe Rigsby said. "With Riverfest also being this weekend, I hope that folks coming to the tournament from out of town will also take part in some of the festivities that we have going on."

Tallassee's other DYB teams in the 7/8 and 9/10 age groups will be traveling. The 7/8 squad will play at East Montgomery. The 9/10 team is at AUM. All tournaments are from June 6-11.

Tallassee's 9/10 all-stars

Tallassee will have two softball all-star teams competing this summer. Last year, the 6U team won the World Series. Each team will playing NSA and DYS. NSA tournaments begin on June 8 in Coaling. They also play June 15 in Dadeville. Dixie tourneys get underway with sub-district in Smiths Station on June 21.

Tallassee will participate in Babe Ruth All-Stars as well. The 15U team will be in the state tournament in Phenix City on the weekend of June 27.
